After the passing of Edward J. Hildenbrand on April 1, 2003, leadership continues, under the direction of the fourth generation in funeral service, Holly A. Hildenbrand, daughter of the late Edward J. Hildenbrand and Nancy J. (Weber) Hildenbrand, who joined the firm in 1984, and has been the Supervisor since 1992.
The Edward J. Hildenbrand Funeral Home, Inc. was founded by George and Sue Schaeffer in 1920. Known then as the Schaeffer Funeral Home, located at 341 West Main Street, Kutztown, the funeral home was later moved to our current location at 346 West Main Street in 1926. Hugo C.A. Weber Sr. and his wife, Mae A. Stump purchased the funeral home from the Schaeffers in 1962. It was then known as the Weber Funeral Home. By 1970 our facility became the Weber and Hildenbrand Funeral Home. In 1976, ownership was transferred to the Weber's daughter and son-in-law Nancy J. and Edward J. Hildenbrand.
