Randolph J. Leibensperger, 90, of Kutztown, died September 2, 2014, of natural causes in the Reading Hospital. He was the widower of the late Joyce I. (Moyer) Leibensperger, who died May 30, 2014. Born in Kutztown, a son of the late Dr. George & Jennie K. (Merkel) Leibensperger. A graduate of Kutztown High School and the former Kutztown State Teachers College, earning two BS degrees in biology and social studies.  He also attended a three-year metallurgical course at Penn State. He was retired from Carpenter Technology Corp., where he was employed for 35 years, retiring in 1986 as the Assistant General Superintendent of Production. A veteran of WWII, having served in the US Army, he received two bronze stars. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kutztown, where he was the past vice President of church council, a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and a past vice chairman of the building committee. Randy was also the past chairman of the Kutztown Civil Service Commission; past member of the Kutztown Jaycees; past President of the Kutztown Rotary; member of the Huguenot Lodge #377 F&AM, Kutztown; a member of the AASR Valley of Reading; past member and past Vice President of the Kutztown University Foundation Board of Directors; a member of the Kutztown Fire Co.; a member of the Kutztown Rod & Gun Club; and a member of the Ray A. Master post 217 American Legion, Topton. He is survived by a son Gregory R., husband of Patricia Leibensperger,  and a daughter, Weatherly Bergstrom Sokol, wife of David R. Sokol, both of Kutztown; six grandchildren: Geoffrey Leibensperger, Monica Parsell, Tamara Fitzgerald, Janine Leibensperger, Kailyn Bell, and Michael Bergstrom; ten great grandchildren: Grant, Mackaden, Christopher, Nolan, Jade, Chase, Ava, Cruz, Brooklyn, and Cameron; two step grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren. Randy was a true gentleman and a loving and caring person to all. Memorial services will be held Monday, September 8, 2014, at 11:30 AM, from St. John’s Lutheran Church, 201 E. Main St., Kutztown, PA  19530.  Inurnment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown.  Friends may call Monday 10 AM until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the memorial fund of his church at the above address. The Edward J. Hildenbrand Funeral Home, Inc., Kutztown has charge of arrangements.
