Lillian M. Baldwin 98, died April 20th in the Reading Hospital. She was the widow of Howard D. Baldwin who died in 1989. Mrs. Baldwin resided at Country Meadows in Wyomissing and was formerly of Kutztown. She was born in Windsor Castle, a daughter of the late Harvey E. and Stella R. (Kohler) Merkel. Lillian was a graduate of Kutztown High School class of 1934, and a graduate of Penn State in 1938 with a BS degree as a Home Economist. She worked for the former Consumer Gas Company. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kutztown where she sang on the choir for many years. She was an excellent seamstress, who wove wool for the suits that she made, having won several first prize awards for her clothing. She is survived by a son James H. and wife Joan of Kutztown, grandson Beau Baldwin. She was pre-deceased by a son Richard H. and his wife Kathleen and brother Thomas J. Merkel. Memorial services Wednesday April 29, at 11 AM in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 201 E. Main Street, Kutztown. Interment private.
