LaRue N. Grim, 88, of Kutztown, passed away in the morning hours Tuesday, December 26, 2017, of natural causes in the Reading Hospital. She was the widow of the late John W. Grim, who died in 1972. Born August 13, 1929, in Kutztown, she was a daughter of the late William N. & Acquilla S. (nee’ Stein) Gehret. A 1947 graduate of Kutztown High School, she attended the Reading Business Institute, and was a 1955 graduate of Dean School of Nursing. A lifetime member of St. Paul’s UCC, Kutztown, she was the first female deacon of the church. LaRue was a hostess in numerous restaurants in Berks Co., including the former Glockenspiel Restaurant, where she also managed the gift shop.  She also operated the Country Store Antiques at Moselem Springs. She was a Past Matron of the East Penn Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a charter member of the Kutztown Historical Society, and of Friend, Inc.. She also volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels for several years. She is survived by her children: John W. Grim, husband of Linda (nee’ Roth), and Susan, wife of Kevin Conrad; three grandchildren: Taylor Grim, husband of Jana (nee’ Heinrich), Megan Conrad, and Michael Conrad; and two great-grandsons: Derek and Corey Grim. Services to be held Thursday, January 4, 2018, at 11 AM, from St. Paul’s UCC, 47 S. Whiteoak St., Kutztown, PA  19530, with the Rev. John Davies, officiating.  Relatives and friends may call Thursday from 10 AM until time of service at the church. Contributions in LaRue may be made to her church, at the above address; www.cancer.org; or  www.1by1catrescue.org
