JoAnn Till Burns, the Cookie Lady is now at rest having passed away on February 14, 2022 at Berks Heim. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late John Till and Julia (Young) Till. She was a graduate of Kutztown High school, and worked as a telephone operator at Bell Telephone, the Reading Eagle, and Sovereign Bank. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Fredrick A. Burns. She loved many things but on the top of the list was Christmas. She decorated her 15 foot Christmas tree with it's large yard underneath, collected Santa Clauses, and baked thousands of Christmas cookies to give away. She also loved camping and traveling the U.S., especially Civil War battlefields with their pop-up camper. She was an avid Phillies fan. She had a very outgoing personality, friendly, and gregarious. She was never afraid to let anyone know what she thought or how she felt. Her whistle was piercing and could be heard for blocks. Besides her husband Fred, she is survived by brother, Dennis Till; and two daughters, Michelle (Shelley) Yerger of Harrisburg, and Stephanie Kurtz of Robesonia. She has five grandchildren: Paul, Rachel, Rebekah, John, and Carly. We wish to thank the wonderful staff of A-1 Berks Heim for helping her through these past couple of years, and caring for her when we couldn't any longer. In her memory, the family requests contributions be made to: "Heim Residency Program Account", 1011 Berks Rd, Leesport, PA 19533. Services are Friday, February 18th, 11am at Edward J Hildenbrand Funeral Home, Kutztown. Visitation with the family 10-11am. Interment in Becker's St. Peters cemetery, Fleetwood.
