Fern K. Kercher, 86, of Allentown, formerly of Kutztown, died in the evening hours Monday, November 4, 2013 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Hospice Unit, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Robert M. Kercher who died in 1995. Born April 26, 1927, in Richmond Twp, Berks Co., she was a daughter of the late Raymond & Mabel (Oswald) Dunkel. She retired in 1989 last working for CVS Pharmacy. Fern was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Kutztown. Fern was also fond of gardening and was especially proud of growing and sharing her “Hens & Chicks” Survivors include: her children: Debra (Jeffrey) Krauss, Allentown, and Joan (Steven) Neider, Punta Gorda, FL; her grandchildren: Steven Neider, Jr., Brandy Neider, Andrew Krauss, Jennifer Judd, and Melissa Mack; her great-grandchildren: Steven Neider III, Austin Neider, Colby Judd, and Aubrie Judd; her sister, Betty Coutts, Shamokin; her daughter in law, Carol Kercher, Northampton, PA; her sister in law, Larue Hamill, Hobe Sound, FL; a number of nieces and nephews; and her grand-dog, Snowy. She was predeceased by her son, Robert M. Kercher, Jr., who died in 2008. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 9, 2013, at 11 AM from her church, St. John’s UCC, 257 West Walnut St., Kutztown, PA 19530. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Friday, November 8, 2013, from 6-8 PM at the Hildenbrand Funeral Home, 346 West Main St., Kutztown, PA 19530 and Saturday, from 10 AM until time of service at church.
