In loving memory of Doris Arline (Angstadt) Sell, 92, who passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024. She was the beloved wife of George M. Sell, who predeceased her on March 11, 1971. Doris was born in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, to the late Elda (Hoch) and Nevin Angstadt.
Doris is survived by her two daughters, Kathy, wife of Robert Gottlund, and Kristin Sell, as well as four grandchildren: Will and Seth Gottlund, and Jordan and Jarrett Noecker. She is also survived by her siblings, Mary (Angstadt) Reed, James Angstadt, and John Angstadt. Doris was predeceased by her sister, Grace (Angstadt) McGrew.
A graduate of Kutztown High School in 1949, Doris earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kutztown University in 1981. Throughout her life, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and worked in the fields of printing and graphic design. Her passion, however, was the pursuit of the fine arts, specializing in landscapes, still lifes, animal paintings, and woodwork. Her artwork was exhibited in various shows throughout Berks County and the surrounding areas, where she garnered numerous art awards. Doris was an avid golfer, achieving three holes-in-one during her golfing career, and developed many cherished friendships during that time.
Doris loved spending time with her family, reading, playing cards, and watching movies. She was passionate about wildlife, gardening, birds, and experiencing the beauty of the world around her. Doris was able to enjoy memorable trips to Europe, Africa, Mexico, and the Galápagos Islands which influenced her artwork over the years. Doris will be fondly remembered for her love of family, artistic talents, and adventurous spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, perseverance, and devotion.
Interment will be held at the family's convenience. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kutztown on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 12:00 noon. Visitation with the family 11-12.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to The World Wildlife Fund.
