Daniel J. Hinkel, 85, of Kutztown, passed away in the afternoon hours Sunday, October 2, 2016, of natural causes in St. Joseph’s Medical Center. He was the husband of Lois M. (Keller) Hinkel. Born in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Daniel J. & Harriet (Reinhard) Hinkel. A 1949 graduate of Williamsport High School, and a 1953 graduate of Lockhaven College, he later received his Masters Degree from Bucknell University in 1957. Daniel first taught biology at Montoursville High School and Jersey Shore High School. He last was a College Professor and wrestling coach at Kutztown University for 32 years. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Army. He also attended Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Kutztown. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Daniel E. Hinkel, Lady Lakes, FL, J. David Hinkel, Exeter Twp; three grandchildren: Benjamin, Elizabeth, and Jacob Hinkel. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 6, 2016, at 2 PM from Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, 421 W. Main St., Kutztown, PA 19530, with the Rev. Adam P. Roberts, officiating.
