Carl A. Lobb, 87, of Kutztown passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 30th. Born in East Bangor, Carl was the son of the late Alfred and Bessie (Ott) Lobb. He graduated from East Bangor High School in 1951 and enlisted in the marines with his two best friends in 1953. He spent time in Korea and was awarded three medals. After Korea, he enrolled in Temple University where he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked for GE for many years before choosing to settle down in Kutztown to raise his family. Carl bought Kutztown Ice and then Saucony Cleaners before buying land to farm. He added a herd of bison in 1991. Carl was married to Patricia Lobb for 58 years and is survived by four children: Stephen A. Lobb, Wayne A. Lobb, Jeffrey C. Lobb, and Lori A. Lob.
Carl was very active in the community. He was a member of the planning and zoning committees for many years. He was a member of the Kutztown business association, the grange, the JC’s, the Republican Club, and helped secure the current historic building for the Kutztown historic society. He also volunteered for the fire police and belonged to the Fire Company for many years. He was a regular at the boro council and Maxatawny Township meetings.
He loved his family, farming, the bison, and wanted to make Kutztown a better place.
Services Saturday October 10, 2020 at 11AM in Hope Cemetery, 225 Church Lane, Kutztown. COVID protocols to be followed. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to East Bangor United Methodist Church, 136 West Central Ave., Bangor, PA 18013. Edward J. Hildenbrand Funeral Home Inc.
