Arlene Frelin Sharp passed away on September 13, 2022. She was born in New York, NY in 1938 where she graduated from Julia Richmond High School and St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing. She married Donald B. Sharp on her 23rd birthday, May 20, 1961. They moved to Kutztown with their two girls, Lisa and Amanda, in 1968. Over the years Arlene and Don ran several businesses together, including an accounting firm, construction company and real estate property management company. The culmination of their work together was the opening of TC’s restaurant in 1991. Arlene also worked as an RN at the Topton Lutheran Home in the 1970’s and Kutztown University Health Center from 1978 through 1983. Arlene and Don shared a passion for travel, which included a six-week trip to Sweden in 1984, the birthplace of her parents; Arlene was very proud of her Swedish heritage. After her husband died in 2007 Arlene continued to travel with good friends. Mormor was the best babysitter and loved spending time with her Macungie grandkids, Taylor, Sam and Lily. She also made many fun trips to Florida to visit with Olivia and Julia. Mormor had an immeasurable impact on the lives of her grandchildren and they will miss her dearly. Survivors include: Lisa (Robert) Wolff and their children, Taylor (TJ) Kleffel, Samuel Wolff and Lily Wolff; Amanda (Richard) Zehl and their daughters, Olivia Zehl and Julia Zehl. She will also be missed by her best friend of over 60 years, Rose Marie Cornell. Arlene also leaves behind her beloved cats, Cheetah and Zazu. Memorial services will be private. A Celebration of Life Open House will be held on October 8, with details to follow. Private internment will be at Dunkel’s Church Cemetery.
